Director of Information Technology (D365)

Dexian IT Solutions
Chicago, IL

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Information Technology is a hands-on technology leader responsible for driving the end-to-end IT strategy and operations of a mid-market CPG company with significant manufacturing operations. This is not a purely strategic role — the right candidate rolls up their sleeves every day, owns the architecture, and drives execution. You will oversee enterprise systems (D365 F&O), infrastructure, cybersecurity, analytics, and a lean IT team supporting a single manufacturing site.

You will report directly to the CFO and serve as the primary technology advisor to the senior leadership team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • D365 Finance & Operations (Primary Focus)Serve as the internal subject matter expert for D365 F&O across finance, supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing modules
  • Own the D365 roadmap — upgrades, new module rollouts, ISV integrations, and ongoing optimization
  • Lead D365 integration work in support of tuck-in acquisitions and M&A activity — Day 1 readiness, data migration, and system onboarding
  • Manage ISV relationships, system integrators, and Microsoft partnership
  • Oversee EDI trading partner integrations (SPS Commerce, DMEDI, 3PL’s)

  • Infrastructure & ArchitectureDesign and maintain LAN/WAN architecture for the manufacturing plant and supporting facilities
  • Manage cloud infrastructure (Azure primary), hybrid environments, and on-prem manufacturing systems
  • Own network reliability, uptime SLAs, and disaster recovery planning
  • Drive vendor rationalization and infrastructure cost optimization

  • CybersecurityOwn the cybersecurity program end-to-end — policy, tooling, monitoring, and incident response
  • Manage security stack including EDR/XDR, email security, vulnerability management, and user awareness training
  • Lead annual security assessments, penetration testing, and cyber insurance documentation
  • Ensure OT/IT security posture across manufacturing environments

  • Analytics & Business IntelligenceOwn the analytics and BI environment built on Snowflake and Sigma — architecture, data pipelines, and platform health
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams to deliver actionable dashboards and self-service reporting
  • Drive data governance and master data management practices

  • Team & Vendor ManagementLead a lean IT team (internal + managed services) across helpdesk, infrastructure, and application support
  • Manage IT budget, vendor contracts, and service level agreements
  • This is a hands-on role — you are expected to be in the work daily, not just managing it

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience; 3+ years in a Director-level or equivalent role
  • Deep, hands-on D365 F&O expertise — you have configured it, debugged it, and own it day-to-day
  • Manufacturing and/or CPG/food industry experience strongly preferred
  • Proven LAN/WAN architecture and management skills in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS) and hands-on familiarity with modern security tooling
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake and Sigma, not required, but familiarity with BI platforms in general and a willingness to learn
  • Comfortable operating in lean, resource-constrained environments — PE-backed or founder-led company experience is a differentiator
  • Strong vendor negotiation and contract management skills
  • Excellent communicator — can translate technical complexity to business stakeholders with no IT background

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Power Automate, Power Platform, or similar workflow automation tools
  • M&A integration experience — tuck-in acquisitions, Day 1 readiness, data migration into existing D365 environment
  • Exposure to OT/SCADA environments in food or process manufacturing
