CLOUD COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE Administrative Support Position Job Description Position Title: Director of Information Technology Reports To: Vice President for Administrative Services Type of Contract: Professional Services Length of Contract: 12 Months Administration may change the duties at any time. GENERAL NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION: The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the leadership, coordination, planning and integrative management of the College information technology resources, including: academic computing services, labs and instructional support; administrative computing services; voice and data communications including the Web and Internet technologies; technology security; audio visual services; and all aspects of information technology strategic planning. The position is responsible for long-range operations planning, vision, budgeting and staffing. The Director of Information Technology will serve as the College liaison with information technology vendors, service providers and internal constituencies to support the delivery of information technology services internally. A valid driver’s license is required. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Information Technology will: v Carry out, effectively and efficiently, the duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to this administrative position. Such duties may include, but are not limited to, development and maintenance of appropriate budgets, supervision and development of personnel, collection and dissemination of data and information, communication with the College community and the community-at-large, participation in appropriate committees and work groups, planning and decision making, application of institutional, governmental, and other policies and regulations, and the completion of other administrative responsibilities as appropriate or as assigned; v Exercise discretion and independent judgment with regard to matters of significance; v Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; 2 v Develop and maintain a budget, v Provide guidance and counsel to the college’s administration and the Board of Trustees in the examination and definition of objectives for existing and/or proposed information systems and the design of improved systems. v Oversee all information technology vendor negotiations and vendor relationships. v Coordinate the development and support of troubleshooting, repairing, advising, and providing technical assistance for the internal institutional telecommunications, computer and information systems, including hardware, software, topologies, protocols and setting; v Coordinate with the Department of Building, Grounds, and Transportation for the installation of the physical components of the institutional networks; v Coordinate technical assistance for institutional participation in extra-institutional networks such as the Internet, etc.; v Coordinate assistance to system administrator in regard to Microsoft networking, active directory, and exchange servers. v Ensure a high level of customer service is provided to all areas of the college. v Coordinate the technical assistance at the Geary County Campus in Junction City, Kansas. Travel to the Geary County Campus will be required. v Coordinator the administration of the Geary County Campus network including active directory, permissions, backups, disaster recovery, monitoring, event logging, installation of network hardware, desktop support and provide accurate documentation. v Coordinate the support of the Concordia Campus, Geary County Campus, and the telecommunications infrastructure. v Coordinate the support of the copiers/printers within the College network system. v Overnight travel may be required. v Assist in the development of institutional policies, procedures and standards pertaining to computer-based technology and its uses. v Interact cordially with coworkers to accomplish common tasks; and v This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
