What You’ll Do

The Director of Ground Operations is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operation functions within their assigned area of responsibility. The Director of Ground Operations manages Operations Supervisors to assure compliance with all company policies and procedures. The Director of Ground Operations provides support for, and participates in, the initiatives of the Strategic Plan. Responsibilities are accomplished and based on MedCare’s mission, vision and values. A primary focus of this role is to safely increase capture rates, strengthen service reliability, and improve supervisory consistency across all districts.

Working in conjunction with the VP of Ground Operations, the Director of Ground Operations is responsible for ensuring a strong business plan to address the competitive market, transmitting the organization’s values, communicating information and ideas, coaching and mentoring others, managing regional resources and assuring that the organization’s core values are implemented. The Director of Ground Operations will model Servant Leadership and Just Culture philosophies. This position is also accountable for promoting standardized operational execution, supervisor expectations, and performance accountability across districts to support reliable service delivery and sustainable growth.. You will also:

  • Oversee staffing, vehicles, deployment, supplies, and daily operations to ensure service reliability, optimal response times, and efficient resource utilization across all districts.
  • Monitor key operational indicators (capture rates, response reliability, utilization); ensure compliance with CAAS, legal, safety, accreditation, and internal standards; leads continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Lead, coach, and hold supervisors accountable through standardized workflows, consistent expectations, performance evaluations, and servant leadership principles.
  • Develop and implement regional and district-wide operational strategies aligned with organizational goals; support budgeting, cost control, and sustainable growth.
  • Maintain daily communication with senior leadership; build strong relationships with partners and internal/external customers; ensures transparent reporting and responsiveness.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, protect confidential information, investigate policy concerns, and make informed, data-driven decisions that balance risk, effectiveness, and impact.
  • Manage projects, adapt to changing priorities, introduce innovative operational improvements, and facilitate regional performance reviews and meetings.
  • Support education and training, workforce sustainability, engagement, ethical conduct, and a respectful, harassment-free work environment.

What is Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business field preferred.
  • Certifications: Current Ohio EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced or Paramedic license required
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience in pre-hospital setting and a minimum of three years of Leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of referring and receiving agencies within assigned region.
  • Demonstrates ability to use operational metrics and performance dashboards to improve capture rates, service reliability, and leadership consistency across multiple districts or locations preferred.
  • Experience standardizing workflows, coaching practices, and accountability structures across multiple supervisors and service areas preferred.
  • Basic understanding of financial statements including balance sheets, income statements and business process management.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and an acceptable driving record as determined by our insurance carrier.
  • Ability to be on-call 24/7.
