Our client is a rapidly growing data center developer and operator with an aggressive expansion roadmap in the U.S. market. This is a rare, high-impact leadership opportunity to join at a critical inflection point — overseeing the ground-up construction of hyperscale-class data center facilities in West Texas.

The Director of Data Center Construction will serve as the senior on-the-ground leader responsible for delivering large-scale, mission-critical data center projects from pre-construction through commissioning. This individual will have ownership over budget, schedule, quality, and safety across multiple concurrent projects.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of data center construction projects from site preparation through commissioning and turnover, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Own the full project lifecycle including design coordination, permitting, procurement, subcontractor management, and final acceptance.
• Partner with engineering, real estate, operations, and executive leadership to align construction timelines with business objectives.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team of project managers, site superintendents, and construction coordinators.
• Establish and enforce construction standards, safety programs, and quality control processes across all active project sites.
• Oversee GC/subcontractor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management for all construction partners.
• Track and report project health, cost variances, schedule milestones, and risk mitigation plans to senior leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement in construction methodologies, materials, and vendor relationships to improve speed-to-market and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, environmental regulations, and permitting requirements.
• Collaborate with commissioning teams to ensure smooth handoffs and operational readiness at project completion.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive construction management experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in data center or mission-critical facility construction.
• Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale ($100M+) ground-up data center or critical infrastructure projects.
• Deep knowledge of data center infrastructure including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), structured cabling, and civil site work.
• Proven ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary construction teams across concurrent projects.
• Strong background in GC management, subcontractor procurement, and contract administration.
• Familiarity with Tier III/IV data center design standards and uptime requirements.
• Proficiency with construction management platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or equivalent).
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• PMP, CCM, or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
