We are partnering with a highly respected architecture and interior design firm seeking a strategic, relationship driven Director of Business Development to lead growth initiatives across the Kansas City metro. This is a high visibility leadership opportunity for someone who can build market presence, create opportunity, and drive revenue through strong client relationships and strategic partnerships.
The ideal candidate understands how to navigate complex sales cycles, build trust with decision makers, and turn long term relationships into measurable business results.
What You’ll Do
• Lead and execute the company’s business development strategy in alignment with annual revenue and growth goals
• Build, manage, and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified leads, active pursuits, and future opportunities through CRM tools and disciplined follow up
• Develop relationships with owners, developers, school districts, municipalities, contractors, and other key stakeholders across target markets
• Partner closely with executive leadership to identify growth opportunities, market priorities, and strategic expansion plans
• Oversee proposals, presentations, interviews, and pursuit strategies that position the company as a trusted partner
• Strengthen community presence through networking events, industry associations, conferences, and speaking opportunities
• Evaluate market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities to stay ahead of the market
• Track pipeline health, conversion activity, win rates, and ROI tied to business development efforts
• Collaborate with marketing leadership to ensure strong brand visibility, messaging, and lead generation efforts
• Lead and mentor business development and marketing team members while building accountability around results
What We’re Looking For
• 7+ years of business development, sales, or strategic growth experience
• Proven success generating revenue through consultative, relationship based selling
• Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, commercial real estate, or professional services strongly preferred
• Strong executive presence with polished communication and presentation skills
• Skilled in negotiation, relationship management, and opportunity advancement
• Strategic thinker who can also execute consistently day to day
• Strong organizational skills with disciplined CRM and pipeline management habits
• Well connected in the Kansas City business community is a major plus
