Director of Adult Education

The Director of Adult Education directs the management of the District-wide Adult Education Program and provides administrative support to the program; promotes the services of the Adult Education and related programs and provides overall management to staff employed in these programs; responsible for management of the Outreach Center facility.



  1. Directs the planning, implementation, staffing, promotion, and evaluation of Adult Education instructional programs and services.
  2. Supervises and evaluates Adult Education Coordinators and assigned grant and support staff.
  3. Evaluates instructional resources and oversees the selection of materials for supporting program goals and objectives.
  4. Oversees the planning, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of Adult Education staff development activities.
  5. Tracks instructional data, enrollment reports, and budget information to meet NRS Performance targets.
  6. Oversees the development, maintenance, and monitoring of registration, records, schedules, and other data required in operating programs.
  7. Responsible for submission of Adult Education and related grants; to ensures compliance with funding agencies; monitors grants and recommends the appropriate response to requests for proposals.
  8. Represents the Adult Education Program at ICCB Administrators’ meetings and at related conferences.
  9. Establishes and provides ongoing oversight of budgets and makes appropriate adjustments as necessary.
  10. Recommends personnel actions including employment, termination, recruitment, assignment, supervision, and evaluation.
  11. Develops partnerships and serves as liaison to external agencies and businesses.
  12. Resolves issues and concerns to maintain qualityof services and student success and retention.
  13. Oversees and assists program coordinators with the development and implementation of program marketing.
  14. Directs development of new programs, and curricula courses in accordance with ICCB and state regulations.
  15. Manages Outreach Center facility, systems, and equipment including safety of staff, ADA regulations, and security of building in coordination with Campus Police, Facilities, Grounds, and Risk Management departments.
  16. Ability to travel to required meetings, conferences, and to other BHC locations required.
  17. Maintains satisfactory MVR.
  18. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.




  1. Master’s degree with major in education or a human service related field required.
  2. Minimum three (3) years successful administrative or management experience that includes staff supervision, project or grant development/reporting, and budget management required.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  4. Minimum of two (2) years work experience in adult education or service-related programs required.
  5. Experience working with a diverse workforce and/or student/client population required.
  6. Teaching and curriculum development experience highly desirable.
  7. Basic level ability with Microsoft Office software required.
  8. Ability to travel occasionally required.
  9. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR required.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Works directly with the Dean of Adult and Continuing Education, the Department Chair, and other Adult Education staff.
  2. Works directly with college Career and Technical Education, Student Services, and Finance offices and with community businesses, institutions, and agencies.
  3. Works directly with Title I Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act staff.
