AT&T is looking for a Director Network Technology Engineering to lead complex network engineering initiatives across wireline, transport, and IP domains. This leader will be responsible for modernizing how AT&T plans, builds, and operates its networks driving automation, simplifying end‑to‑end workflows, and improving speed, quality, and financial performance. This role requires a strong combination of technical depth, execution discipline, and people leadership, with the ability to translate complex engineering topics into clear, outcome‑driven decisions for senior leadership.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and develop multi‑disciplinary network engineering teams responsible for the design, planning, and evolution of AT&T’s wireline and transport networks
  • Drive end‑to‑end network lifecycle execution, from strategy and architecture through implementation and operational readiness
  • Partner across Layer 1 (fiber/optical), Layer 2 (transport), and Layer 3 (IP) teams to ensure clear ownership, effective handoffs, and aligned delivery
  • Champion automation and AI‑enabled capabilities to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and accelerate time‑to‑market
  • Provide technical and operational leadership for major initiatives, including network transformation, platform modernization, and large‑scale capital programs
  • Translate technical complexity into clear recommendations, risks, and trade‑offs for VP and AVP‑level stakeholders
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to network performance, delivery predictability, cost efficiency, and quality
  • Ensure compliance with AT&T engineering standards, security requirements, and financial controls
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience leading a network engineering organization within a telecom or large-scale infrastructure environment.
  • Deep technical expertise across wireline, optical/transport, and IP networking, including large-scale production networks.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-organizational initiatives spanning multiple engineering layers and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong track record of financial accountability, including capital planning, expense management, and delivery of high‑visibility programs.
  • Experience driving automation, tooling, and process simplification to improve network performance, speed, and quality.
  • Excellent people and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate technical complexity into clear business decisions.

Our Director-Network Technology Engineering, earns between $155,400.00 - $261,100.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
