Job Summary

In the role of Director, Indirect Sourcing, the job holder will directly and through teams, as applies, be responsible and accountable for developing, implementing, managing, and sustaining procurement and sourcing plans and strategies for the assigned Indirect Services Category and sub-categories and sourcing functional areas, as apply. The role operates within the West Global Procurement – Strategic Sourcing, Category Management Framework to deliver assigned operating unit and functional objectives and deliverables while performing to West’s professional and ethical business practices, within the pillars of Global Procurement, Sourcing Function – Category Management, Sourcing Governance and Expertise, Supplier Relationship & Performance Management, Contracting and Financial Framework implemented through policy, site operations and procurement and business partnering, and within global procurement operating model. The role requires technical and behavioral competencies and capabilities to lead and implement value leadership, deliver performance metrics across procurement, sourcing, business, and supplier network promoting risk identification & mitigation. In this role demonstrates capacity to gain and implement new market trends and insights, potential sources and future technologies platforms and solutions to meet Wests business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Business Partnership:

  • Develop and manage key Sourcing, Contract and Business stakeholder relationships – gaining a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end business owner requirements
  • In collaboration with business stakeholders, implement strategic sourcing and category strategies that consolidate and optimize both the supplier base and services, while securing the lowest TCO and access to highest levels of supply, service, and quality.
  • Conduct financial, spend analysis and support of business case development to support and enable tactical roll-out of approved sourcing plans and events. To continuously drive for optimizing working capital, costs, price, PPV, deflation and service.
  • Lead and work closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and finance (FP&A) team to develop spend budget, assess budget impact, and spend forecasts for assigned category(s), programs, and contracts, further supporting sourcing plans for applicable business functions
  • Lead Sourcing participation in global and operating unit leadership, supply, service and business review forums, as required to drive sourcing strategy, business support, and improvement plans in partnership with operating unit(s)

Leadership / Business Function Support:

  • Direct, lead and support sourcing team engagement with business function partners on sourcing and procurement policies, procedures and business process through stakeholder management, sourcing team interactions, and defined training programs, as applies
  • Direct and implement system platform and business solutions to enhance sourcing and improve category performance and service delivery issues, as required
  • Direct team to lead and optimize cost saving, reductions and controls for assigned category(s) while maintaining continuous timely supply of material and services to meet delivery requirements and West business expectations
  • Introduce new and innovative ideas for the sourcing and procurement of materials, goods, and services
  • Within assigned category(s), actively lead and support Supplier Relationship (SRM) and Supplier Performance (SPM) management using defined and key performance indicators, supplier-business scorecards, governance and by effectively managing commercial contract oversight and compliance for assigned business partners
  • Lead, develop and plan excellent recruitment, retention, and competency-based performance management across sourcing team(s) with demonstrated ability to develop high-performance teams and individuals.

Additional Responsibilities

Sourcing, Contracting and Business Performance Management:

  • Lead implementation of sourcing initiatives and events for assigned category(s) and any boarder procurement operations as directed – includes MvB, EOI, RFx, etc.
  • Review, assess and evaluate sourcing proposals and business case within Operating unit and implement sourcing strategy and process to enable and support business sourcing requirement and tactically deploy plans
  • Lead and support contract negotiations and oversight with an emphasis on financial, commercial terms and conditions, risk management, compliance, and business continuity while supporting business escalation and issue resolution, as applies
  • Lead strategic sourcing activities and process for assigned category(s) including RFx development, supplier identification, selection and endorsement, and execution through contracting, price and term negotiation review and approval partnering with operating unit, legal and SME team, as required
  • Support business partners to develop and enforce compliance to contract framework by managing supplier and service provider Performance and Relationship management Governance, Segmentation, and Degree of Touch per West Strategic Sourcing, Category Management Operating Model
  • Follow Market Trends and Analysis for industry and category benchmarking. Use this knowledge to support business partners, sourcing strategy and evaluate key financial aspects of cost drivers of global markets to optimize supply network performance and delivery of value-add solution to West
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Procurement or Supply Chain or equivalent experience required
  • Master's Degree or MBA preferred
Work Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in a Global Multi-National GMP Sourcing and manufacturing environment, and at Leadership Team Level
Additional Requirements
  • Requires expert sourcing, procurement and contract knowledge and experience in GMP Pharma, Medical Device across Direct and / or Indirect Category Areas
  • Requires expert category management experience within Indirect and Direct areas with demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, business, and supplier issue resolution and across supplier relationship and performance management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, support, and implement strategic sourcing events and tactical sourcing projects
  • Demonstrated experience of project management methodology supporting cross-functional teams in delivery of projects and sourcing solutions
  • Service and issue orientated, ability to work within teams or independently and to deadlines
