Director for Educational Leadership and Endowed Chairship

Viterbo University is seeking applications for a visionary and relational leader in education to provide academic leadership and operational management for the Educational Leadership programs in the School of Education (SOE), supporting students across multiple licensure pathways and cohort locations. This is a 10-month administrative position with faculty rank of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include program administration, faculty management, recruitment, student advising, curriculum support, marketing, and collaboration with university departments to ensure successful program delivery. The director will cultivate partnerships with educators for recruitment purposes and practicum placements across the state of Wisconsin. The director reports to the Associate Dean of the School of Education. This position will start in August 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach 3 credits per year in the graduate or education leadership programs.
  • Communicate regularly with students, prospective applicants, faculty, and adjuncts.
  • Support admissions processes including transcript review, application evaluation, and admissions documentation.
  • Coordinate course scheduling, student registration, and academic planning,
  • Develop, review, and maintain the quality of the curriculum and alignment with WI Administrator Standards.
  • Maintain documentation for accreditation, program review, and institutional reporting.
  • Oversee marketing, recruitment support, scheduling, advising, and program management activities.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with School of Education leadership.
  • Participate in department and graduate-level meetings to develop recruitment and marketing strategies.
  • Serve on departmental and University committees as needed and as assigned.
  • Maintain strong institutional and external relationships by actively engaging with school districts, advisory boards, and professional organizations to promote the programs.
  • Other academic and administrative duties as assigned.

Faculty and Adjunct Management

  • Hire, supervise, mentor, train, and support a team of adjunct faculty.
  • Complete and submit adjunct contracts, coordinate course assignments, and conduct evaluations.
  • Organize and facilitate annual adjunct training and curriculum development sessions, including collaborative
  • virtual meetings for instructors.
  • Facilitate collaboration among instructors across various locations.

Student Recruitment and Success

  • Oversee admissions, advise students on program requirements, and handle student concerns and complaints.
  • Travel to regional markets to meet prospective students and facilitate informational sessions.
  • Occasionally travel to cohort locations to present practicum requirements and expectations to students.
  • Provide guidance on mentor selection, program timelines, requirements, and documentation.
  • Monitor student progress, retention, and outcomes; implement strategies to support student achievement.

Program Administration and Assessment

  • Coordinate program logistics including licensing documentation and program assessment.
  • Collect and analyze program assessment data and maintain reporting systems required for institutional and accreditation purposes.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Business Office, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Graduate Admissions team.
  • Coordinate program operations across multiple cohort sites, supporting various locations across the state of Wisconsin.
  • Plan and manage program schedules for up to two years in advance.

Licensure and Practicum Coordination

  • Review and process practicum documentation, including student applications, mentor evaluations, instructor reports, and final reflection assessments.
  • Conduct site visits, maintain student licensure files, and coordinate documentation for institutional approval and submission to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
  • Process mentor honoraria and ensure completion of all licensing documentation.
  • Maintain practicum documentation and approval records.
  • Provide letters of recommendation, licensing documentation, and emergency license support.

Proseminar Program Planning and Coordination

  • Hire instructors and support planning and execution of four-day Proseminar program and culminating commencement ceremony.
  • Manage student communication, registration processes, and instructor assignments.
  • Work in collaboration with the office coordinator to identify eligible students and coordinate enrollment for annual Proseminar program and commencement ceremony.
  • Work collaboratively with the office coordinator, SOE faculty and staff, and other University departments to coordinate logistics including housing, facilities, food services, and program scheduling for Proseminar Week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A master's degree in education or related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in K-12.
  • Prior administrative or leadership experience in K-12.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school administrator certification/licensure processes.
  • Holds a valid Wisconsin tier II, III, or IV license, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned administrative license or certification (principal, superintendent, director of instruction, or equivalent).
  • Effective communication and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, presentation software, and virtual conferencing.
  • Experience with various learning management systems (LMS), curriculum development, and instructional design.
  • Experience in strategic planning and budgeting.
