Our vision for Director of BD Excellence at BD

  • Lead strategy development and deployment (SDD). Ensure strategic alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (criticalmetrics’)top down and bottom up. Support business unit leadership team in creating strategic vision of improvement goals, business master plan (deployment roadmap andmaturity expectations based on priorities) and governance process across all functions and sites.The majority oftime to be spent in the factory environmentdirectlydeveloping capability.

  • Challenge existing paradigms, encourage and promote internal and external benchmarking. Develop and grow zero loss approach across critical areas tooptimizesafety, quality,deliveryand cost.Serves as a champion to overcome barriers by addressing issues promptly

  • Peopledevelopment, especially with regards to Business OPEX managers and Plant OPEX managers. As the OPEX function leader for a business unit, guide, coach, and showskill in BD Excellence concepts and systematic approach, including strategy development & deployment (SDD), core components, Zero Loss approach and all related methodologies/tools. Ensure execution of and resource breakthrough Kaizen events Develop and grow capability through components andcomponentteams toestablishthe fundamentals of excellence in safety, quality, and reliability. Coach and guide business unit leaders to ensure focus of resources and time on priorities.

  • Continue to drive BD Excellence capability development andimpactthrough deployment of dynamically sophisticated aspects ofcomponentmethodologies. Achieve long term CIobjectivesthrough cross functional alignment of all resources toward shared goals.

  • Works closely with the Plant Managers and SiteBD ExcellenceManagertosupport the development and implementation of the improvement strategy for their BD Excellence Maturity.Mentors /coaches plantBD Excellencemanagers

  • Develop and grow BD Excellence capability, to help the business unit deliver a multi-year cost-to-win (CtW) program. Focus on building capability that improves problem solving, increases loss awareness, and empowers teams toeliminatefactory-lossin an impactful, efficient, and sustainable way.LeverageBD ExcellenceAcademyascapabilitybuildingmechanism, to ensure consistent approach and development excellence.

  • Develop a plan and govern the execution of projects driving OEE / OLE increase, Wastereductionand Labor Productivity increase in alignment with overallCtWplans for the BU.

  • BU BD Excellence Leaders will be passionate about working with the BU ISC Leaders to create a culture of operational and customer excellence, implementing change, and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) across the network by leading the strategy development and deployment (SDD) for the BU.

  • Conducts periodic review of KPIs and actions for all plants.Willfacilitateand coach plant associates asrequiredto ensure performance goals are achieved.On sitecoaching and assessments asrequired.

  • Support globalcomponentcenters-of-excellence(COEs).Help develop standards and best practices.Optimizemethodologies for different manufacturing technologies.Develop andleveragebest practices, drive best practice development and adoption.Ensure deploying sitesestablishand maintainappropriate componentKPIs,maintainand promote visibility of globalcomponentimpact.

Technical Area of Expertise

  • Demonstrates mastery of one or more areas of BD Excellence and has direct experience in leading the application of one or more areas of Operational Excellence / LEAN production.

  • Demonstratesexpertisein problem solving, as well as training and coaching others.

  • Previous experience in implementing, and proven understanding of, Lean and Six Sigma business systems. Six sigma black belt certification preferred.

  • Proven passion for safety, customercentricityand operational excellence

  • Excellent understanding of the interaction between operational excellence and customer service.

  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills with people at all levels

  • Consistenttrack recordin project or program management

  • Experience of working in a multi-site and multi-cultural environment

  • Business acumen and ability to display the linkage between projects and desired business results

Personal Specification:

  • Flexible and able to travel. Expected travel up to 75% to be present within plants driving Kaizens, improving flow and developing/growing capability within the site.

  • Must be collocated at a large or significant site within the BU.

  • Language: Fluent English mandatory

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (engineering preferred)

  • Master’s degree desirable, e.g., business administration / LEAN production.

  • Minimum 10yearsmanufacturing experience / leadership experience in a plant

  • Minimum 3-years’ experienceoperatinga production system. Certified or recognized as a Production System practitioner/specialist in multiple components of the Operating System by proven successful systematic implementation where transformational business performance and capabilities are evaluated though a maturity assessment
