Overview

We are seeking a forward-thinking Director of HR Technology to lead the strategy, optimization, and innovation of our HR systems ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on Workday, AI enablement, and data-driven decision making. This leader will oversee a team of 5 and play a critical role in transforming how HR leverages technology, automation, and analytics to drive business outcomes.

This is a highly hands-on leadership role, blending strategy, architecture, and execution.

Compensation - $180-200k + 20-30% bonus


Key Responsibilities

HR Technology Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the HR technology roadmap, centered on maximizing the value of Workday and adjacent platforms
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 5 HRIS/HR Tech professionals
  • Act as a strategic partner to HR, IT, Finance, and business leaders to align technology solutions with organizational priorities
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, with a focus on AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation

AI & Digital Transformation

  • Identify and deploy AI-driven solutions across HR (e.g., talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee experience, and service delivery)
  • Lead initiatives around predictive analytics, generative AI, and process automation to improve efficiency and insights
  • Partner with IT and data teams to ensure responsible AI governance, data privacy, and ethical use
  • Continuously assess market trends and innovations to keep the organization at the forefront of HR tech evolution

Workday Optimization & Delivery

  • Own the configuration, enhancement, and ongoing optimization of Workday (Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Talent, Payroll, etc.)
  • Ensure system scalability, performance, and alignment with business processes
  • Oversee releases, upgrades, integrations, and vendor management
  • Drive adoption through user-centric design, training, and change management

Data, Analytics & Insights

  • Establish a robust HR data and analytics strategy, leveraging Workday and BI tools
  • Build and scale dashboards, KPIs, and reporting capabilities to support executive decision-making
  • Lead efforts in data governance, data quality, and data integrity across HR systems
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for business leaders

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure operational efficiency of HR systems, including SLAs, support models, and issue resolution
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation and streamlined workflows
  • Manage budget, vendors, and external partners

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in HR Technology / HRIS, with deep expertise in Workday
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams (minimum team size: 3–5+)
  • Strong background in HR data analytics, reporting, and workforce insights
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or leveraging AI/ML technologies in HR environments
  • Hands-on experience with system configuration, integrations, and architecture
  • Strong understanding of HR functional areas (Total Rewards, Talent, Payroll, etc.)
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with IT, Finance, and business stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at executive levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday Prism Analytics, Adaptive Planning, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience in digital transformation or large-scale HR system implementations
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and AI governance frameworks
