Digital Technology Lead – Storefront & UX

Position Overview

As the Digital Technology Lead, you are the technical architect and primary delivery lead for our customer-facing digital brand. You will oversee the development of our high-performance, Headless UI, ensuring it remains lightning-fast, modular, and perfectly integrated with our commerce backbone.

You are a "Product-Minded Engineer" who balances high-level technical oversight with active delivery. Your mission is to maintain elite digital standards while mentoring a team of developers to deliver a world-class B2B shopping experience.

Responsibilities

1. Digital Excellence & Code Governance

  • Experience Guardian: Lead the technical execution for the Storefront POD, performing rigorous code reviews to ensure all work meets internal benchmarks for security, performance, and scalability.
  • Standards Setting: Along with other UX engineers and enterprise design systems, help establish and maintain modern frontend engineering standards, including component-based architecture, TypeScript patterns, and high-performance CSS strategies.
  • Architectural Alignment: Partner with the eCommerce Digital Solutions & Platform Architect to ensure the Storefront UI consumes APIs efficiently without compromising site speed.

2. Experience Engineering & Performance

  • Headless Innovation: Drive the development of our custom frontend (React/Next.js), focusing on Server-Side Rendering (SSR) to ensure "Instant-on" performance for our dealers.
  • Integration Strategy: Oversee the integration of third-party digital tools (Analytics, Search, Personalization) while maintaining elite "Core Web Vitals."
  • UX Modernization: Lead the technical refactoring of legacy components into modern, reusable UI elements that drive conversion and minimize technical debt.

3. AI-Augmented Development (10x Efficiency)

  • AI Productivity Mastery: Advanced proficiency in using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Replit Agent) to accelerate the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and automate repetitive coding tasks.
  • Automated Quality Auditing: Leverage AI to perform automated security scans, unit test generation, and performance profiling of code submitted by the broader team.
  • Rapid Digital Prototyping: Utilize AI agents to quickly stand up "Proof of Concept" features (e.g., new dealer dashboard widgets) for stakeholder review and testing.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 9 years of software engineer experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR

  • Master's degree and at least 5 years of software engineer experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR

  • At least 12 years of software engineer experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • 7+ years of professional web development experience, with at least 3 years in a Lead or Senior capacity within a high-growth Digital Product environment.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining decoupled/headless storefronts (e.g., Next.js, Nuxt.js, or Remix).
  • Experience managing or mentoring developers in an Agile/Scrum environment, with a focused "You Build It, You Run It" mentality.
  • Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and modern styling frameworks (Tailwind, CSS-in-JS).
  • Deep experience consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs within a commerce context.
  • Advanced ability to use AI-driven coding assistants to refactor code, generate documentation, and optimize logic at 10x speed.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright) to ensure zero-regression deployments.
  • Understanding of complex digital requirements like bulk-upload carts, multi-level navigation, and tiered pricing displays.
  • Exceptional ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to the Product Owner and non-technical stakeholders in a "Business-First" language.
