The Innovative Education (InEd) Digital Learning Training and Support Team (DLTS) develops and delivers award-winning, skill-building resources for USF online faculty through a variety of mediums including on-demand support, consultation, workshops, digital (PDF) guides, instructor certification, and more. DLTS spearheads the creation of institution-wide digital learning resources for faculty, students, and serves as an institutional leader in the research of enterprise-wide digital learning systems, the evaluation of new and existing digital learning platforms, and pedagogical best practices for digital teaching environments.

The Digital Learning Training & Support (DLTS) Consultant is an expert in digital teaching and learning, specializing in providing USF faculty with the technical skills and pedagogical best practices to deliver effective digital learning experiences for USF students. In this multi-functional role, the DLTS Consultant provides exemplary support to faculty through on-demand Live Support, live and self-paced workshops, individual consultations, and assisting faculty in creating DIY content through the Faculty Production Room. Additionally, the DTLS Consultant is responsible for designing and developing effective, skills-based faculty training resources including (PDF) instructor guides,
tutorials, workshops, and other resources.

The DLTS Consultant is also responsible for optimizing the accessibility of digital teaching and learning content within Canvas courses and building the skills of USF faculty in digital accessibility while and embracing universal design for learning (UDL) best practices. 

This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to distill and deliver complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. They must have a high-level of proficiency in digital learning technologies (i.e. Canvas), a solid understanding of online pedagogy, adaptability, keen attention to detail, an understanding of digital accessibility, and a proactive, can-do mindset. 

Additionally, please note that this position is not for remote work and requires full-time, on-site presence at the USF Tampa campus.

Consultation & Support: Deliver high-quality, consultative support to faculty with varying backgrounds and levels of experience through on demand “Live Support,” scheduled consultation sessions, workshops, the production of DIY content through the Faculty Production Room, and other channels of faculty engagement. Independently diagnose and resolve complex faculty support needs, determining when issues require immediate intervention, follow-up consultation, or escalation. Act as a trusted advisor to faculty by have an acute, up-to-date knowledge of all institutional digital learning platforms, including new features, enhancements, and known limitations. Also maintain current knowledge of the evolving pedagogical best practices in digital learning environments, including the integration of AI, strategies to improve instructor workflow efficiency, and approaches that enhance meaningful student engagement. Work with faculty to identity their short-term and long-term teaching/course goals and translate those goals into effective digital learning experiences for their students. Collaborate with the Learning Design team, IT, and other relevant campus stakeholders to ensure continuity, accuracy, and alignment of faculty-facing resources and messaging.

Design, Develop, and Update Training Resources: Using Canva, Canvas, Premiere, and other production platforms, develop effective instructor (PDF) guides, asynchronous (Canvas-based) workshops and courses, tutorials, and any other assets produced by the Digital Learning Training and Support team. Assist in the evaluation and enhancement of all Digital Learning training resources, ensuring that resources meet the highest level of effectiveness, accessibility, and other quality markers. 


Canvas Course Accessibility Optimization and Enhancement: Support all USF faculty in optimizing digital accessibility within Canvas courses by applying best practices and leveraging accessibility tools, while also assisting in the identification and remediation of course accessibility issues. Collaborate with faculty to identify opportunities to optimize courses using principles of universal design, enhancing the overall digital learning experience for all students. As needed, assist faculty with other aspects of Canvas course enhancement based on the instructor’s goals and the course learning objectives and outcomes.

Workshop Design, Development, and Facilitation: Design, develop, and facilitate engaging, skill-building training solution, delivered both in person and via Teams, providing faculty with practical, application-based strategies for and array of topics including Canvas, Teams, AI, digital accessibility, and more. Assist in the facilitation and enhancement of USF’s flagship training program, the award-winning Online Instructor Certification.

Additional tasks: Assist in tracking workshop data and OIC certifications, compiling information for annual reports, and researching best practices and tools within the digital teaching and learning environment. Assist in the analysis of support interactions and engagement data to identify gaps, emerging needs to enhance the impact and effectiveness of training solutions. Contribute to and support pilot studies and accessibility-related research projects in partnership with faculty and institutional stakeholders. Assist in the planning, production, and AV support of on-site events and workshops.
