Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Dietetic Assistant!
As a Dietary Assistant at MercyOne, you will be responsible for completing and processing patient menus and nourishments to assure compliance with diet orders. Responsible for using computer software systems to ensure patient safety with dietary restrictions and accuracy of meal tickets. Assist with patient tray and nourishment delivery to floors. Provides proper phone etiquette and customer service for all age groups from infants to elderly.
- Reviews Electronic Medical Record to identify level of nutrition risk needed following guidelines established by Clinical Dietetics staff.
- Uses dietary software program to assure patient safety and meals are served in compliance with current diet order.
- Interprets information and reports generated from dietary software for verification of patient menus.
- Input, implement and deliver nourishments and tube feeding orders. Calculates amount of tube feeding product needed to meet physician’s order.
- Responsible for collecting “Same Day Menu” selections from patients in compliance with diet order.
- Responsible for generating patient meal tickets, patient listings and requested patient reports using dietary software.
- Processes and records; early/late trays, guest trays, Bereavement and Peace Trays for patients, guest and staff.
- Answer telephone using good customer service skills and accurately communicates messages.
- Maintains schedules and arranges outpatient appointments for Clinical Dietitian staff.
- Accurately calculate patient carbohydrate intake as ordered.
Schedule:
- Rotating schedule; weekend and holiday rotation.
General Requirements:
- Maintains a professional, collaborative work environment to foster a positive public image for MercyOne Medical Center.
- Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, food safety, and medical information (i.e. HIPAA, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of diet restrictions and allergies.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills: able to work in a healthcare environment.
- Skill in operating office equipment.
- Skill in utilizing a personal computer and related software.
- Ability to communicate clear, concise and effectively with staff, patients, and the public.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to collect data, keeps accurate records, and prepares reports.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, principles of food safety, and sanitation.
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
