Coordinates menus and maintains kitchen inventory. Handles food properly in compliance with health safety. Prepares food for individuals receiving services. Ensures cooking equipment is in good order.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below: 

 

  • Reviews menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.
  • Prepares, seasons and cooks food.
  • Carves portions of meat, fish or fowl for individual servings.
  • Inspects food storage and directs sanitary maintenance of kitchen and storage facilities.
  • Oversees and coordinates activities of kitchen workers preparing and cooking foods.
  • Plans and reviews menus.
  • Determines food quantities, labor and overhead costs.
  • May participate in food preparation.
  • Performs other related duties and activities as required.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job: 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Six months related experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
