Job Description

The Die Setter is responsible for safely and efficiently setting up, changing, and maintaining injection molds in a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment. This role ensures that production runs consistently meet quality standards, cycle-time targets, and customer specifications. The position is well suited for mechanically inclined individuals who are comfortable working with high-precision tooling, automated equipment, and injection molding processes.

Responsibilities

• Set up, change, and maintain injection molds on production equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Read and interpret setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions to complete accurate mold changes and machine setups.
• Use appropriate tools, including cranes and other lifting devices, to safely remove and install injection mold dies.
• Verify that machines and molds are properly set to meet quality standards, cycle-time targets, and customer specifications.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on mold and machine setups to resolve issues that impact quality or production efficiency.
• Inspect tooling and dies for wear, damage, or contamination and report issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Work closely with machine operators and maintenance personnel to support smooth production runs and minimize downtime.
• Follow all safety procedures when working with heavy equipment, oil, grease, and at heights.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while handling dies, tools, and materials in a fast-paced environment.
• Document setup activities and communicate status updates to team members and leadership as required.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, machinery, and mechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience with machine operation or machine setup in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform die setting tasks on injection molding equipment or strong interest in learning these skills.
• Ability to read and interpret setup sheets and basic blueprints.
• Capability to safely operate a crane or similar lifting equipment to move and position injection mold dies.
• Attention to detail when working with high-precision tooling and automated equipment.
• Ability to work safely with oil, grease, and around heavy lifting and heights.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with tight quality and timing requirements.

Work Environment

The facility is a clean, fast-paced Tier 1 automotive manufacturing plant where products move directly from production to the customer’s assembly line. The role involves working closely with injection molding machines, high-precision dies, cranes, and other industrial equipment. While the overall environment is clean, the die setting work itself can be dirty due to regular contact with oil, grease, and heavy tooling. The position is on first shift, typically starting at 6:00 AM and ending at 2:30 PM, with frequent overtime extending the workday to approximately 4:00 or 5:00 PM. The operation commonly runs two Saturdays per month to support customer demand. The work includes heavy lifting and working at heights, so adherence to safety practices and appropriate industrial work attire is essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, TN.

The pay range for this position is $19.60 - $19.60/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Smyrna,TN.
