Development Manager

Macdonald & Company is partnered with an active affordable housing developer that is continuing to expand its development team and looking to add a Development Manager to support a growing pipeline across California.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of projects from predevelopment through completion.

The Role

This individual will manage 2–3 projects at a time and be responsible for driving execution across the full development lifecycle, including:

• Developing project plans, timelines, and overall execution strategy
• Navigating entitlements and working with municipalities, agencies, and housing authorities
• Assisting in structuring financing plans, including tax credits and various soft funding sources
• Managing due diligence and reviewing key project documentation and agreements
• Coordinating with construction teams and third-party partners throughout the build process
• Supporting project reporting and maintaining clear communication with internal stakeholders
• The role is execution-focused, with an emphasis on getting deals across the finish line.

Platform Overview

• Pipeline of ground-up affordable housing developments across multiple California markets
• Typical projects range from mid- to large-scale, often built in phases
• Lean, collaborative team environment with exposure across the full deal lifecycle

What They’re Looking For

• Experience working on affordable housing developments through various phases of the lifecycle
• Familiarity with LIHTC and/or other affordable housing financing structures
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and keep projects on track
• Strong organizational and communication skills
