Summary

The Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and improvement of products from concept through production. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure that products meet customer requirements, industry standards, and cost targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, CAD software, and an understanding of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and develop innovative product concepts that meet customer needs and market demands.
  • Select appropriate materials and components for product designs, considering factors such as cost, performance, and availability.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs). Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Analyze existing products to identify opportunities for cost reduction, performance improvement, and manufacturability enhancement. Implement design changes as needed.
  • Provide technical support to the production team, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and specifications for new products and components, ensuring they are accurate and manufacturable.
  • Address design-related issues that arise during the manufacturing process, making necessary modifications to improve product quality and reduce production costs.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs, gather feedback on design concepts, and provide technical support during the product development process.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo) for creating detailed designs and drawings.
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Knowledge of materials science, including properties and applications of various metals, plastics, and composites.
  • High level of attention to detail, particularly in ensuring that designs are accurate, functional, and manufacturable.
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
