The Deputy Director of Administration is responsible for the administrative, organizational, and support functions of the communications center. This role oversees administrative services, financial management, records management, human resources coordination, community engagement, information technology support, and organizational analysis functions to ensure efficient internal operations and support the agency’s mission.

Light physical demands; primarily desk work with frequent computer use and occasional lifting or handling of files and office materials.

Work Situation Factors

This position requires managing multiple administrative functions simultaneously and meeting organizational deadlines. Occasional extended hours may be required, including a rotating on-call schedule. Reliable attendance is critical. Compliance with State and Federal regulations and agency policies, including drug testing and criminal background requirements, is mandatory.

Fulltime, regular, exempt position with the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority (MVRDA).

  • Oversees administrative operations including office management, documentation, and internal administrative processes.
  • Supervises administrative support staff and ensures efficient workflow across administrative functions.
  • Directs records management operations including retention, access, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Oversees human resources coordination including recruitment support, onboarding, employee records, and policy implementation.
  • Supervises the Management Analyst function responsible for data analysis, reporting, and organizational improvement initiatives.
  • Oversees the Engagement Coordinator responsible for community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and public information initiatives.
  • Manages coordination with the IT Manager to ensure reliable technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, and system support.
  • Assists with budget preparation, financial tracking, and procurement processes.
  • Develops and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Leads and coordinates the process for obtaining and maintaining professional and organizational accreditations as directed by the Executive Director, including ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, preparing documentation, coordinating internal reviews, and serving as the primary liaison with accrediting bodies.
  • Coordinates compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements related to administrative operations.
  • Oversees organizational reporting, performance metrics, and documentation.
  • Supports executive leadership with strategic planning, special projects, and organizational initiatives.
  • Ensures records, data, and documentation are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • During the Executive Director’s absence, stand in for the Executive Director of MVRDA.

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered. Significant administrative or organizational management experience. Experience supervising professional and administrative staff. Knowledge of government administrative operations, records management, and organizational systems. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in public safety, emergency communications, or government operations. Experience with budgeting, policy development, human resources and organizational analysis.
