The Day Camp Counselor is responsible for supervising, engaging, and ensuring the safety of children participating in summer day camp programs. Day Camp Counselors coordinate with Day Camp Directors and fellow staff to plan and lead recreational activities for camp attendees. This position reports directly to the Day Camp Director and Program Supervisor.

Organize andlead smallandlargegroup activities eachweek, such as arts,crafts,games, etc.while enforcing camp safety rules. Thisincludestimespenton the bus.
Identify andrespondtocamperbehaviorissues and concerns in a professional manner, including communicating with parents, fellow day camp staff, Day Camp Directors, and Program SupervisorEnsurethat all visitingsites arekeptclean, organized,andfreeof litter during and after completion of activities.
Assist in maintainingaccurate programrecordsincludingincident reports and daily attendance.
Know andunderstandallemergencyproceduresassociated withthe camp program.
Know, enforce, andsafety guidelines associatedwith the camp and allprogramareas.Thisincludes, butisnotlimited to,beingresponsiblefor your campers' safety and their whereabouts atalltimes.
Performsrelated tasks asrequired.
This is a temporary/seasonal position limited to less than 1,000 hours per calendar year.
Some knowledge of a variety of athletic activities; some knowledge of a variety of arts and crafts or ability to implement with instructions; experience with children aged 5-12. Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision. Ability to interact with campers, family, and public from diverse communities. Reliable, punctual, and able to work during the summer camp season starts June 1st ends July 31st. (Approx: 8 weeks and 4 days)
Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 of force. Work regularly requires, frequently standing and walking for extended periods of time; using arms and hands to feel/handle, climbing, balance, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting; may include kneeling, crouching or crawling; work requires depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work is generally in a moderately noisy location(e.g., recreation center ;pool area; visitor center; day trip facilities). Work is primarily outdoors, but does include some indoor activities and transportation to various camp destinations via department vehicles. Exposure to varying weather conditions.
