Data Strategy Architect

Howmet Aerospace is currently in search of a Data Strategy Architect to join our Global Information Services (GIS) Resource Unit at the Howmet Corporate Center in Pittsburgh, PA. The position will report into the Senior Director, Corporate Applications and be part of the Architect team that strives to provide value-add business-driven solutions, through the leverage of right technologies. This role will be capable of building strong relationships across the business, as well as serving as an advocate for technology with BU/RU leadership.

Major Activities:

  • The IT business architect clarifies strategic intentions, identifies business outcomes, explores implications, impact, risks, and addresses stakeholders’ questions.
  • Proactively and holistically leads and supports information technology strategic initiatives that align with business goals and shape business models - people, processes, technologies and data.
  • Helps business leaders and end users understand, apply, evaluate, and operationalize existing, new, and emerging technologies to transform and optimize business and operating models 
  • Works closely with business functional areas and IT delivery teams to define and architect data environments to meet reporting and analytical needs for consumers, developers, and business analysts that consider value, volume, velocity, and variety.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead discovery efforts, including stakeholder interviews and process analysis, to identify gaps and opportunities in the organization’s data culture to drive towards strategic goals and targeted business outcomes, while considering IT investment priorities
  • Continuous knowledge development of business capabilities, business processes, technology capabilities and standards for applicability and feasibility assessments 
  • Use the organization’s existing business and operating model as the starting point for innovation, for example, by using new technologies to enhance, enable and extend as a building block
  • Research and provide consultation on emerging technology trends and disruptions and competitors' practices relevant to assigned business process/functions representatives
  • Collaborate with the IT PMO on benefits, issues, risks of initiatives and reporting project status
  • Analyze and anticipate project and product needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems
  • Capture business needs and collaborate with other IT thought leaders on solutions
  • Question and challenge legacy assumptions, navigate ambiguity, and maintain a holistic or big picture view of the organization’s strategic landscape
  • Convey complex technical solutions to various cross functional roles in the company for alignment, adoption, and measurable impact

DATA

  • Define and lead the enterprise data strategy roadmap, aligning data initiatives with business priorities and long-term organizational goals 
  • Design and architect scalable data ecosystems, including data lakes, warehouses, and integration frameworks 
  • Establish best practices for data governance, data quality, and data lifecycle management 
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities to leverage data for advanced analytics, reporting, and decision-making 
  • Evaluate and recommend data technologies, platforms, and tools to support evolving business needs 
  • Define data models and architectures that support value, volume, velocity, and variety of data across the organization 
  • Collaborate with IT delivery teams to ensure data solutions are effectively transitioned from strategy to execution 

FRONTLINE DIGITAL SOLUTIONS

  • Support the design of data-driven solutions that enhance operational efficiency and frontline workforce enablement 
  • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with real-world operational workflows
