We are seeking an experienced Data Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale semantic layer solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. This role will drive data architecture, semantic model development, governance, and SOX-compliant analytics frameworks that enable trusted, self-service reporting across Finance, Operations, Marketing, HR, and Technology teams.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, semantic modeling, data architecture, and enterprise governance, along with experience integrating downstream BI platforms and AI-driven analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver enterprise semantic models using Microsoft Fabric (Direct Lake, Composite Models, Import Mode) and Power BI.
- Define and implement data modeling standards, certified datasets, reusable measures, and semantic layer best practices.
- Establish governance frameworks including RLS, OLS, dataset certification, sensitivity labeling, and data lineage management.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, audit requirements, access governance, and change management processes.
- Design integrations between Microsoft Fabric and BI platforms such as Tableau, Qlik Sense, MicroStrategy, Grafana, Excel, and AI/LLM solutions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable analytics architectures.
- Lead architecture reviews, performance optimization initiatives, and solution design discussions.
- Drive enterprise adoption of governed, reusable semantic models supporting self-service analytics.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Analytics Engineering, or BI Solutions Architecture.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, Data Pipelines, and Direct Lake semantic models.
- Extensive experience with Power BI, DAX, semantic modeling, composite models, aggregation tables, and deployment pipelines.
- Deep understanding of Data Modeling, dimensional modeling, and semantic layer architecture.
- Experience implementing SOX-compliant governance, security controls, audit trails, and data lineage.
- Strong knowledge of RLS, OLS, dataset certification, and enterprise data governance frameworks.
- Experience integrating third-party BI tools and enterprise reporting platforms with semantic models.
- Ability to engage senior stakeholders and provide architectural leadership across multiple business domains.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Databricks and modern cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Exposure to AI/LLM integrations such as Anthropic Claude or Azure OpenAI.
- Knowledge of data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Alation, or Collibra.
- Experience leading enterprise-scale analytics transformation initiatives.
