Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)

Duration: 6–12 Month Contract-to-Hire

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in NLP and Generative AI to join a growing team focused on building and deploying production-grade AI solutions. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong data science foundation and is interested in growing into a Lead Data Scientist position.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of Data Science experience
• Strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• 4–5+ years of hands-on experience with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Strong Python programming skills
• Experience developing and deploying production-scale machine learning systems
• Experience implementing and evaluating LLM and RAG-based solutions
• Experience working through the full product lifecycle, including deployment, maintenance, and feature enhancements
• Experience collaborating closely with ML Engineers on production deployments
• Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed computing platforms such as Spark or Hadoop

Preferred Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques
• Experience with Gradient Boosting, Random Forests, and other advanced ML algorithms
• Hands-on experience with Transformer-based architectures including:
• BERT
• RoBERTa
• T5
• Experience working with modern LLMs such as:
• GPT/ChatGPT
• Claude
• Mistral
• Llama

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning and Generative AI solutions
• Build and evaluate LLM and RAG applications for production environments
• Partner with ML Engineers to deliver scalable AI products
• Support product deployment, maintenance, and ongoing feature development
• Work with large datasets to develop innovative data-driven solutions
• Mentor junior team members and serve as a technical subject matter expert
• Contribute to the strategic direction of AI and Data Science initiatives
