Our client, a multinational financial services company, is looking for someone to join their team as a Data Platform Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina.


This is a yearlong W2 contract with potential to extend or convert


This is a platform engineering role focused on infrastructure, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence, not application development. You will work closely with data engineering, analytics, and infrastructure teams to support a multi-tenant environment that powers critical data workloads across the organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex platform challenges, optimizing performance, and supporting a diverse set of users and stakeholders.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Build, maintain, and enhance a scalable data platform running on Kubernetes/OpenShift
  • Support a multi-tenant environment serving multiple teams and business users
  • Manage platform configuration, upgrades, and operational health
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance and reliability
  • Support distributed data processing and analytics technologies
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve issues, answer technical questions, and improve platform adoption
  • Contribute to platform architecture, automation, and scalability initiatives
  • Drive operational excellence through observability, monitoring, and best practices


Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (OpenShift experience highly preferred)
  • Experience working with object storage solutions such as S3 or equivalent
  • Deep understanding of modern data platform technologies, including:
  • Apache Spark
  • Apache Hive
  • Trino
  • Apache Iceberg
  • Experience supporting production platforms in enterprise environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and operational support experience
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders


Preferred Qualifications

  • Python development or automation experience
  • Familiarity with DataHub, Keycloak, or similar ecosystem tools
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms
  • Exposure to broader cloud-native data platform architectures
  • Experience designing and supporting large-scale, multi-tenant environments
