About the Company
Data Center TALNT is a specialized staffing firm placing white-collar construction professionals on hyperscale data center projects nationwide. We partner directly with top-tier hyperscalers and general contractors to fill critical roles fast—typically within 10–20 days. Our team understands the unique demands of mission-critical construction and matches experienced professionals to programs where they can make an immediate impact.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong electrical background to oversee ground-up hyperscale data center construction in Ashburn, Virginia. This role is embedded on an Oracle data center program and requires hands-on management of electrical scopes including medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, busway, and BMS/EPMS integration. The ideal candidate has delivered electrical infrastructure on mission-critical facilities and can manage subcontractors, drive schedule, and enforce quality standards across complex, fast-tracked builds.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of electrical construction from civil/structural coordination through energization, testing, and commissioning turnover
- Oversee electrical subcontractors performing MV/LV switchgear installation, generator paralleling, UPS deployment, static transfer switch installation, and busway/PDU distribution
- Drive and maintain the electrical construction schedule including procurement tracking, RFI resolution, and submittal reviews in coordination with project controls
- Enforce quality standards across all electrical installations; review ITP checklists, witness critical inspections, and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and client-specific data center standards
- Coordinate electrical scope interfaces with mechanical, controls, and commissioning teams to support integrated systems testing (IST) milestones
- Manage electrical change orders, cost tracking, and budget forecasting; provide weekly reporting to program leadership
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings; resolve field conflicts using BIM/Navisworks clash detection outputs
- Ensure site safety compliance with OSHA standards, NFPA 70E arc flash requirements, and LOTO procedures for energized work
- Support commissioning and startup activities including witness testing of ATS transfers, generator load bank testing, UPS bypass operations, and full-load facility power-on sequences
- Maintain documentation standards including daily logs, progress photos, punchlist management, and closeout packages
Qualifications
- 10+ years of construction management experience with a minimum of 5 years focused on electrical scopes in mission-critical or data center environments
- Direct experience managing electrical construction on hyperscale data center projects (50MW+ campus-scale preferred)
- Deep working knowledge of MV/LV power distribution architectures including 2N and N+1 redundancy configurations common in Tier III/IV data centers
- Proven ability to manage multiple electrical subcontractors simultaneously across concurrent data halls or buildings
- Experience with data center electrical equipment: Caterpillar/MTU generators, Eaton/ABB/Schneider switchgear, Vertiv/Eaton UPS systems, Starline/Raritan busway and PDUs
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting one-line diagrams, power riser drawings, arc flash studies, and coordination studies
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and ASHRAE standards as applied to data center electrical systems
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and/or Microsoft Project for construction management and scheduling
- OSHA 30 certification required
Required Skills
- Prior experience on Oracle, AWS, or Microsoft hyperscale data center programs
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license (any state)
- Experience in the Northern Virginia / Loudoun County data center corridor
- Familiarity with commissioning processes including Cx scripting, EPMS point-to-point verification, and integrated systems testing protocols
- PMP, CCM, or LEED certification
