The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Data Analytics team. In this role, you will partner with researchers, statisticians, and cross-functional stakeholders to generate insights from complex data that support the organization’s mission and operations.


This position is ideal for a data-driven professional who enjoys solving challenging problems, working with large datasets, and leveraging modern analytical approaches, including AI-assisted coding, to deliver meaningful, actionable insights.


Reporting to the Director, Research and Data Intelligence, the Data Analyst has the following responsibilities:

  • Perform statistical analyses to support research and operational initiatives.
  • Extract, clean, and analyze large datasets to generate insights and reports.
  • Develop, test, and implement analytical workflows and code using statistical software and AI-assisted coding practices.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and completeness across datasets and reporting outputs.
  • Create clear, compelling data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau (or similar platforms).
  • Translate complex analytical findings into concise, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.


The demonstrated ability to apply strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to ambiguous or complex questions is essential to this role. Experience with statistical programming tools such as SAS, R, or Python is highly desired. Proficiency in working with SQL and large datasets, along with hands-on experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, will enable success in this role. Familiarity with or interest in AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) to enhance productivity and analysis workflows is also valued. Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly present insights, are critical.


The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to exploring and solving complex problems, with an undergraduate degree in a related field and three to five years of relevant experience in data analysis and management. A graduate degree in Statistics, Data Science, Health Services Researcher, or a related field is highly desirable.


This is a hybrid role based in our offices at 510 Walnut Street, Philadelphia PA, with the ability to work remotely three days a week. Our technology and facility teams provide and support a seamless hybrid work environment for all employees.
