Customs Entry Writer

The Phillip Charles Group has been servicing the local metro Detroit area for the past 30 years and has built incredibly strong partnerships with our clients, candidates, and employees. We have worked with our current client for almost 20 years and they are looking for an Entry Writer for a Direct Hire opportunity to work for a well established international freight forwarder who offers multi faceted modes of transportation and services around the globe. This organization has multiple locations throughout the U.S. and other countries.

Entry Writer Responsibilities:

• Entry Processing: Prepare and transmit timely import entries for air, ocean, and ground freight.
• Classification & Valuation: Responsible for customs entry, classification, PGAm and ISF;
• Document Review: Audit commercial invoices, bills of lading, and packing lists to ensure total regulatory compliance.
• Agency Compliance: Ensure goods align with strict U.S. Customs and Border Protection rules and Partner Government Agency requirements.
• Communication: Coordinate with clients, carriers, and customs officers to resolve holds, request additional documents, or clear up rejections.

8:00AM – 5:00PM Monday – Friday $26-$28/hr

Entry Writer Skills Needed:

• 3 to 5 years experience is entry writing
• Strong communication, and organizational skills
• Strong Microsoft office skills (including O365, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Certified Customs Specialist is a plus
