Job Description

This Inside Customer Service Representative role combines customer support, inside sales, and order management in a dynamic office and warehouse environment in West Sacramento. You will assess customer needs, provide product and technical information, prepare quotes and proposals, process orders and returns, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Success in this position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay current on products and equipment through regular communication with vendors and manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new and repeat sales by providing accurate and timely product and technical information to customers.
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability, or specifications when needed.
  • Present pricing, credit terms, and conditions in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Accurately process customer transactions, including orders, quotes, and returns, in company software.
  • Provide precise information regarding the availability of in-stock items and expected delivery dates.
  • Obtain accurate shipment and delivery information from vendors and communicate it clearly to customers.
  • Increase sales and average order size through cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales, and promoting special offers.
  • Educate customers on product terminology, features, and benefits to support informed purchasing decisions and improve product-related sales.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with customers to foster trust, loyalty, and repeat business.
  • Actively participate in shipping, receiving, and inventory processes as needed.
  • Contact customers after sales to ensure ongoing satisfaction and promptly resolve any complaints or issues.
  • Fulfill customer requests for catalogs, product information, or samples in a timely manner.
  • Capture accurate and complete customer and order information in company systems.
  • Manage time effectively, meet personal performance goals, and collaborate productively with other members of the distribution team.
  • Present a professional image at all times when interacting with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Travel to various work sites or training locations when required.
  • Work overtime when necessary to meet customer needs and business demands.
  • Strictly follow all safety requirements and procedures, including adherence to the company’s Stop Work policy.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment and assist coworkers with additional duties as required.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to handle inquiries, resolve issues, and build long-term relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple orders, quotes, and follow-ups accurately.
  • Ability to calculate percentages and pricing quickly and accurately for quotes and proposals.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high performance standards.
  • At least 2 years of customer service experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of successful selling experience, preferably in industrial or commercial sales.
  • PC proficiency, including the use of standard office software and company systems for data entry and order processing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience in industrial or commercial sales is preferred.
  • Persistent, energetic, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Experience with customer service, inbound calls, and customer support.
  • Data entry and order entry experience with high accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in retail, inside sales support, and general customer care.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment
  • Ability to provide valid documentation for employment eligibility verification.
  • Consistently display a professional and courteous attitude.
  • Strong attendance record and reliability in reporting to work at the designated start time.
  • Willingness to travel minimally to various work sites or training sessions as required.
  • Willingness to work overtime when business needs require it.

Work Environment

This position operates in a combined office and warehouse setting. You will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets while handling customer orders and documentation. The role is full-time, working a standard Monday through Friday schedule for approximately 40 hours per week, with minimal travel expected. Some tasks require presence in the warehouse, where you may encounter louder noise levels and varying temperatures. The role involves the ability to sit for extended periods, frequent use of hands for keyboard and mouse operation, occasional reaching, bending, and stooping, and the ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds on occasion. Strong visual acuity is needed for close and distance work, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment while working on a computer and navigating the warehouse. Clear hearing and speech are required to interact with customers and coworkers in person, by phone, or via video conference. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated operations and production areas, and uniforms are provided to support a professional and safety-conscious dress code.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
