Job Summary

This Customer Outreach Specialist position is a direct report to the Manager, Customer Outreach in PSE&G’s Customer Solutions organization. The Customer Outreach team is responsible for driving increased participation in energy efficiency and payment assistance programs through customer outreach events and other communications to help customers manage bills and save energy. This team helps to raise awareness of payment assistance and energy efficiency programs, and through advocacy, influence favorable decisions.
Position is responsible for leading customer outreach strategy and execution for in-person events and communications to educate and engage customers regarding energy efficiency and payment assistance programs. Provides strategic guidance in partnerships and advocacy. Works with multiple external community outreach organizations and business associations. This position also works closely with multiple internal stakeholders and partners, including CES Program teams and vendors, CES Business Development, CES Marketing, Payment Assistance/Collections teams, Corporate Communications, Regional Public Affairs, State Governmental Affairs, and Business Customer Solutions to ensure awareness and effectiveness of scheduled events.
This position has leadership in managing vendors, budgets and contracts engaged in outreach efforts.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead annual planning of all outreach that includes, but is not limited to, developing and maintaining a calendar of events, sponsorships, and coordinating all related deliverables.
  • Select events with consideration to attendance, cost, type of involvement, staffing and stakeholder interest.
  • Track and analyze effectiveness of events and communications.
  • Collaborate with CES Marketing, the Customer Solutions Communications team, and external vendors to ensure collateral reflects customer outreach strategy.
  • Partner with CES PMO organization and Contracts/Procurement to ensure all manners of compliance are met and prudency verified in advance (manage outreach 930 submittals).
  • Staff events, some of which can occur outside of normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends.)
  • Collaborate with multiple departments within the organization and establish strong working relationships, including, but not limited to: Business Customer Solutions, Payment Assistance Outreach, State Government Affairs, Regional Public Affairs, Market Strategy & Development, Corporate Comm, PSEG Foundation and Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Support CES advocacy efforts; inform outreach strategy and reporting.
  • Support Payment Assistance and the Payment Assistance Intake Department (PAID) teams to increase program enrollments and achieve BPU goals.
  • Research, coordinate and execute residential and business customer events and outreach initiatives; ensure targeted displays and collateral/messaging at events, to ensure appropriate content for audience.
  • Manage Sustainable Jersey partnership to engage municipalities to promote energy efficiency to their residents and businesses and partner with Empowered Schools program for student engagement with energy efficiency.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; prefer major in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations or Business; and 8 years of work experience in corporate business communications, journalism, or related experience
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and editing
  • Leadership skills: experience in coaching and developing others with respect to customer-focused advocacy
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multiple departments, vendors, and community associations and affiliations
  • Ability to organize information and communicate internally and to external organizations
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing outreach plans and coordinating with partners to promote events
  • Analytical skills
  • Project planning, organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Experience using Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in measuring the effectiveness of an outreach plan and/or sponsorship plan
  • Ability to track overlapping deadlines and coordinate multiple deliverables and tasks at once
  • Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
