Join the Saint Paul Public Library as a Custodian II and play a key role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for the community. In this position, you’ll perform custodial work across library facilities, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, supporting daily operations, and contributing to a positive experience for patrons and staff. Here's what you an expect to do:
  • Clean restrooms
  • Vacuum and edge offices and hallways
  • Remove trash from offices, breakrooms, and grounds
  • Sweep and mop breakrooms and stairwells
  • Perform seasonal grounds work including lawn maintenance and snow removal
  • Assist with stripping and waxing floors
  • Assist Custodial Engineers with light maintenance work

Information Specific to this Position:
The current vacancy shift is Monday - Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is based out of Rondo Community Library and is expected to drive to other sites.

The eligible list created from this assessment will also be used to fill Custodian II positions as they become available in other libraries and various departments within the City.

Open Job Posting:This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements.

Eligible Lists: Eligible lists are typically created from a pass/fail assessment. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.

Final Selection Process: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.

Pre-Employment Screening: This position requires a medical examination, driver’s license check, and a background check which may include criminal history as a condition of employment.
