This position is responsible for routine cleaning, basic maintenance tasks, and ensuring a sanitary environment for staff and visitors. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Job Duties:As a Custodian, you will play a key role in maintaining clean, safe, and orderly facilities by performing routine cleaning, sanitation, and minor maintenance tasks. In this role, you will:
- Perform custodial duties to maintain a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for visitors at the Welcome Center
- Clean and service restrooms, offices, hallways, and outdoor areas (including adjacent sidewalks) using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Empty, disinfect, and properly dispose of trash, including infectious waste in compliance with regulations
- Identify and address minor safety hazards; report maintenance and safety concerns to supervisor
- Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking brochure materials as needed
- Monitor facility conditions and report repair needs related to building systems (HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, etc.)
- Safely perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds and using ladders
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency availability
- Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and strong customer service skills
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12 month period.Work Schedule:16-24 Hours weekly. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed and be available on weekends and holidays.Location: Kentwood Welcome Center in Kentwood, LA.The Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism are participants in the E-Verify system for identification and employment eligibility purposes.
