Crew Leader

Under general supervision, the Parks and Recreation Crew Leader coordinates and oversees daily work activities of assigned crews engaged in the maintenance and upkeep of City parks, athletic fields, splash pads, skate parks, and other recreation areas. This position ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance operations while assisting with training, performance evaluation, and project planning.
Leadership and Supervision
• Plans, schedules, and assigns daily work for maintenance crews.
• Assists in training, mentoring, and evaluating staff performance.
• Provides input in interviewing and selecting new employees.
• Ensures crew compliance with safety procedures and operational standards.

Park and Facility Maintenance

• Oversees maintenance and care of park grounds, rose gardens, athletic fields, splash pads, and landscaping.
• Inspects facilities and equipment for cleanliness, safety, and proper function.
• Tests and monitors chlorine and chemical levels at splash pads.
• Performs light maintenance tasks involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and irrigation systems.
• Gets quotes for RV park fees as needed

Inventory and Equipment Management
• Monitors, maintains, and orders necessary supplies and equipment for daily operations.
• Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides.
• Operates and maintains park maintenance tools, vehicles, and machinery safely and efficiently.

Administration and Other Duties
• Maintains accurate records and documentation of work activities, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
• Assists in developing and implementing operational procedures and maintenance schedules.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
• Purchase items with assigned P-card
• Enter transactions in City finance software
• Verify and maintain crew time sheets in City software
• Process work orders through CivicWorks


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions at City parks and facilities. Duties require exposure to hazardous chemicals, tools, equipment, and potential infectious martials. The position involves frequent standing, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, lifting, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Knowledge of:
• Park and facility maintenance methods, tools, and equipment.
• Safe handling and storage of chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and irrigation.
• Relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
• Workplace and equipment safety procedures.

Skill in:
• Operating and maintaining maintenance tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Planning, prioritizing, and organizing multiple work assignments.
• Inspecting and troubleshooting facility or equipment issues.
• Interpreting manuals, plans, and work instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Basic computer skills that include searching the internet, emailing and using Microsoft Office.

Ability to:
• Supervise and motivate staff to achieve operational goals.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, and the public.
• Perform physical tasks in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
