Position Overview
Reporting to the President, the Controller will serve in a fractional capacity and will oversee all accounting, budget, tax and forecasting activities. The Controller will provide oversight and guidance to full-time Accounting Manager that is responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Supervise and provide guidance to the on-site Accounting Manager
• Oversee the monthly close processes, review account reconciliations and estimates
• Review revenue and expense project coding
• Prepare consolidated financial statements
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Update forecast and budget models
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Assist with tax preparation and coordinate with external tax advisors
• Prepare annual budget
• Assist leadership with strategic planning and forecasting
• Assist with due diligence activities and requests
• Prepare financial reports for board meetings
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions
Qualifications:
• Certified Public Accountant - required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting - required
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience – required
• Consultant must be US based– required
• Currently working in a consulting or fractional role – required
• Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industries - preferred
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Building and dynamic financial models for budgeting and forecasting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
Engagement Structure:
• Fractional / part-time engagement (approximately 5-10 hours monthly)
• Flexible schedule based on company needs
• Reports to senior leadership (President and CEO)
