Job Description

As a Chemical Operator, you will be responsible for operating chemical compounding equipment to achieve the correct chemical reactions. You will follow specific batch sheets and document all relevant information throughout your daily activities. Your role requires precise measurement of raw materials and adherence to safety protocols in handling and disposing of regulated waste and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Operate chemical compounding equipment to ensure the correct chemical reactions.
  • Follow specific batch sheets and document all corresponding information throughout daily activities.
  • Use precise measuring equipment to weigh out raw materials to the correct proportions.
  • Safely handle and properly dispose of regulated waste, wastewater, and hazardous materials.
  • Perform basic arithmetic operations to ensure correct amounts and percentages of finished materials.
  • Conduct quality control checks on finished materials, in-process materials, and raw materials as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in batching, blending, and compounding.
  • Ability to follow batch sheets, formulas, or ingredient lists.
  • Proficiency in operating production equipment beyond basic controls.
  • Knowledge of chemical, compounding, and batch making processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with sanitation and Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes.
  • Ability to follow strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including temperature and process controls.
Work Environment

The work environment is clean, though certain areas and chemicals can be dirty or hot. Operators may work in hooded areas to manage machines and create chemicals, which can be hazardous if inhaled. Comfort with working in hotter environments and handling hazardous materials is necessary. The team consists of 7 people, with a full staff of 12 to 15 across three shifts, requiring effective teamwork. This position is for the 2nd shift, from Monday to Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, with opportunities for overtime and weekend work. Training on the 1st shift (6:00 am to 2:30 pm) is required for a couple of weeks. Safety processes, standards, and ISO regulations must be followed in this chemical manufacturing environment. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.25 - $28.00/hr.
