Job Description
Gwinnett County Superior Court Division 5 is seeking a Court Reporter to transcribe verbatim Court testimony and hearings.
Essential Duties
- Attending hearings or Court sessions and reporting verbatim testimony (via recording devices and/or shorthand) of non/jury (pleas, motions, rules, etc.), and civil/criminal proceedings as assigned
- Preparing verbatim transcripts of hearings and trials as provided by law and as requested by Judges, DAs, and attorneys
- Maintaining year-to-date records of said proceedings
- Processing billing notices for reporting/transcriptions
- Preparing weekly reports and maintaining records
- Furnishing copies of transcribed testimonies, etc. to attorneys and other interested parties
- Performing other clerical tasks necessary for completion of Court functions, as assigned
Public Speaking Duties- Speaking duties are at the discretion of the Judge
Grade
The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on experience and certification level.
Hiring Salary Range:
- Certified Court Reporter - $77,157
- Certified Court Reporter with Georgia Realtime License - $79,817
- Certified Court Reporter with National Realtime License - $90,460
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications- Court Reporter Certification
- One year of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Three years of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment
- Georgia or National certified court reporting license
