King County Superior Court is seeking a highly organized and customer service focused part-time Court Program Technician to support proceedings in King County’s Juvenile Court. The responsibilities of this position are to provide support to operations within the Juvenile Court Services Department. This part-time position is benefits eligible.
This position requires the incumbent to facilitate the Court’s calendar when scheduled. The incumbent enters data into software programs; maintains, tracks, monitors, research and updates cases. This position assists litigants, volunteers, attorneys and other customers in a busy environment requiring regular multi-tasking. The incumbent provides information and forms to comply with court processes and follows up with responsive or remedial action if needed, as well as responding to inquiries regarding how to proceed with specific court processes. Duties require the incumbent to interact effectively with judicial officers, prosecutors, the defense bar, probation, detention staff, Court Clerks, and external Juvenile Court Partners.

Work location: This position is primarily located at the Judge Patricia Clark Children and Family Justice Center 12ll East Alder Ave, Seattle WA. The incumbent may be required to work at other Superior Court locations.
Work schedule and terms: This is a
part-time position with a standard workweek of 20 hours. This position is hourly and overtime-eligible. The typical part-time workweek is 8 hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 4 hours on Thursdays. Hours of work may vary.

The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level:
- Perform tasks in court, including monitoring case readiness in compliance with court rules; interpreting policies and procedures; prepare court orders based on judicial officers' determinations when needed; review pleadings and legal documents for compliance with applicable law and previously entered orders; creating and updating team distribution lists.
- Perform operational support activities including the creation, maintenance and timely distribution of court calendars, scheduling court dates, and determining priority order of cases with respect to local court rules/legal time frames.
- Provide procedural information to attorneys, pro se litigants, and others.
- Facilitate communication between judges, commissioners, court staff, volunteers and the public. Respond to questions and inquiries regarding specific court rules and implementation of court program policies and procedures.
- Track, maintain, monitor and input case information into court-specific database system. Update case status for accurate and current information. Monitor cases post-filing through dismissal or jurisdiction expiration.
- Ensure courtroom security/safety on a daily basis as well as initiate security response to courtrooms and court-related areas when required.
- Provide backup support to other Court Operations staff as needed.
- Participate in the planning and training of new employees in processes, policies and software applications.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), and three to five years' experience in court procedures and processes, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of court rules, court procedures and processes required. Must be able to interact effectively with a wide range of people in a professional manner. Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and virtual meeting tools including Microsoft Teams and Zoom is required.
