The Office of the County Counselis accepting applications for County Counsel Lead Administrative Assistant*.Thisposition will perform a variety of advanced legal administrative assistant duties and provide high-level support services to attorneys and administrative management in the Office of County Counsel. Duties include providing administrative and technical supervision to administrative assistants, clerical, and other support staff. Additional duties include screening mail, calls and visitors to determine the nature and urgency of the contact; scheduling meetings and managing calendars; training clerical and support staff on office policies and procedures; handling special assignments and projects; processing or overseeing the preparation of legal documents; interacting with court personnel; performing research related to attorneys’ casework; and keeping abreast of current legal issues and changes to court regulations or proceedings.

Experience:Three (3) years offull-time equivalent highly responsible, and complexadministrative assistant experiencein support of a specified executive-level professional or administrative position(s) operating in a work environment that requires a high level of confidentiality and discretion, where duties included collecting and analyzing information, drafting reports based upon data analysis, and preparing agendas, calendaring, scheduling meetings, composing correspondence, maintaining files and records, and preparing and processing legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, and motions under an attorney’s supervision.
Substitution:Bachelor's in public/business administration, management, behavioral/social science, accounting/finance or other relevant field of studymay substitute for one (1) year of the required administrative assistant experience.IMPORTANT NOTE: General clerical experience (e.g., Office Assistant, Clerk, Receptionist) is NOTconsidered qualifying. Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to classifications providing support to a specified executive-level professional or administrative position(s) and above(e.g., Board Office, County Administrative Office, Chief Executive Officer, Agency Director, Department Head, Division Chief).Experience as a legal administrative assistant supporting civil law attorneys in a California County Counsel’s Office and/or at least (6) months of experience in the area of civil law supporting attorneys in a public agency is highly desirable.
