The
Counselor III is a valuable member of our
(CABS) Child Adolescent Behavioral Services who is responsible for providing screening, assessment, and support services/mobile crisis response to clients who are experiencing a mental health crisis or who are at risk of psychiatric hospitalization.
As part of the Lake County
(SASS) Screening, Assessment and Support Services program, it provides after-hours on-call services to respond to youth at the site of a crisis, complete a crisis evaluation, and arrange crisis stabilization and follow-up services. May provide individual/family counseling, treatment planning, case management, and case consultation services to youth clients and their families. Provides services in community settings. Works as part of a comprehensive treatment team. Competently works with clients with coexisting disorders, including substance abuse.
Schedule: 25 hours a week- Monday-Friday
- Flexible work hours and schedule, some remote work allowed.
- On-call occasional weekends to cover after-hours support.
- Some holiday coverage as needed.
- Provides direct services to clients, including individual and group treatment.
- Maintains regular contact with an active caseload.
- Consults with the supervisor regarding transfer/placement of a client to another level of service, as needed.
- Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop, review, and update
- treatment goals and referrals, both internally and externally.
- Assists clients in obtaining public entitlements, housing, community resources, etc.
- Attends staffings with Court Services, schools, agencies, and others, as necessary.
- Organizes and participates in treatment-related clinical conferences and staffings on assigned clients.
- Focuses on client empowerment, evidence-based or adopted best practices in providing treatment, seeking to assist clients to build on strengths in addressing treatment needs.
- Conducts crisis intervention/evaluation/referral to persons who present themselves at the program.
- Performs initial evaluations and assessments of potential clients regarding their appropriateness for participation in the program.
- Participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and seminars to facilitate professional growth and maintain licensure if required.
- Provides education and direction to clients, family members and/or significant others.
- Assists in facilitating transportation of clients.
- Associate’s degree and five (5) years’ experience in behavioral sciences, or
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years’ experience in behavioral sciences, or
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one (1) year of experience in behavioral sciences, or
- Master’s degree in behavioral sciences and no experience
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Requires use of personal vehicle when a LCHD fleet vehicle is not available for outreach activities or to respond to crisis calls in the field.
