Counselor - Group Home - Flex / PRN

The WaukeganGroup Home is a supervised residential setting for adults living with severe mental illness. Staff helps residents understand their condition, develop coping skills, and improve their interpersonal and daily living skills. Services include medication monitoring and psychiatric care; linkage to community resources; and life skills training (i.e., budget management, cooking, housekeeping, and personal care).
Flex Counselor Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluating, assessing and admitting clients.
  • Conducts crisis intervention/evaluation/referral to persons in the community or who present themselves at the program. Secures hospitalization, if necessary.
  • Prepares treatment plans with clients.
  • Provides individual, group, and family counseling.
  • Serves food to clients in residential programs, ADL's, and appointments as needed.
  • Provides education and direction to clients, family members and/or significant others.
  • Assists in facilitating transportation of clients.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Education
  • High school diploma or GED and 3 years of experience, or
  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
Scheduled Hours:As needed
  • Flex employees must work a minimum of 80 hours per calendar year; and be available to work one (1) fixed or floating holiday each year, if needed.
