About the Company

The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for managing cost of goods sold and inventory accounting, developing and maintaining standard costs, and analyzing manufacturing variances, as well as overseeing the manufacturing and inventory modules in the company’s ERP system. The position will support cost accounting month end close, reconcile inventory, prepare journal entries and have the opportunity to work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, R&D and quality organizations to ensure proper financial presentation and to develop relevant financial analysis. Although this is a manager position, the role is hands-on and the candidate must be detail-oriented with a proven ability to work with others at all levels of management.


About the Role


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Manage quarterly standard cost rolls including component cost update, overhead rates, BOM review, and routing maintenance (including labor costs and subcontract processing).
  • Ensure accuracy of BOMs and standard costs, and provide analysis on cost revaluation to ensure inventory is valued properly.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly cost accounting activities and related financial reporting.
  • Review work order close review and perpetual inventory reconciliation to GL. Inventory accounts include raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods and trunk stock.
  • Review adjusting entries as needed.
  • Prepare monthly flux analysis on COGS and manufacturing absorption, including manufacturing variances, inventory adjustments, scrap, labor & burden costs, and overhead costs.
  • Prepare adjusting entries as needed.
  • Provide insight on current and expected trends and identifying areas of risk and opportunities.
  • Oversee company's cycle count and year-end physical inventory programs.
  • Analyze excess and obsolescence inventory and adjust inventory reserves quarterly.
  • Participate in financial analysis to support manufacturing and product development decisions.
  • Maintain inventory / finance related data and system attributes within SAP.
  • Work with Operations to improve business processes and efficiency.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to the systems and related processes in place to improve efficiency.
  • Work with external auditors/consultants and provide audit and tax supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX control environment and support SOX IT compliance, as applicable.
  • Build strong relationships across functions within the company and maintain an open flow of communication to build deep knowledge of current events in the business.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of cost accounting experience; in-depth knowledge of manufacturing accounting.
  • Experience with SAP in Manufacturing environment and public company experience a plus.
  • Proven record of working with Operations and R&D.
