This position functions as the Office Manager for the District Office. Position serves as first line supervisor for support staff and as administrative assistant to the District Manager. Position is responsible for Human Resources functions within the district, purchasing, mail operations, property control, inventory control, vehicle management, rental and leases, security and telecommunications, and daily management of the office.
Three years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been in a corrections or law enforcement setting:Six years of experience in administrative services; ORSix years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in administrative services; ORA bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in administrative services.EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties:
- Supervises Corrections Support Specialist staff, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and assigning work based on operational needs.
- Conducts interviews, orients new employees, and provides ongoing training on policies, procedures, forms, and investigative processes.
- Monitors staff performance, prepares evaluations, approves leave requests, and ensures adequate office coverage.
- Serves as liaison between clerical staff and officers to ensure consistent interpretation and application of departmental policies and procedures.
- Manages daily office operations by assigning workflow and ensuring coverage for front desk, intake, document processing, and compliance tracking.
- Prepares and reviews a variety of documents, including correspondence, reports, warrants, motions, orders, and investigative reports for leadership and staff.
- Handles routine administrative requests from headquarters, boards, courts, law enforcement, and the public, reducing workload for the District Manager.
- Maintains and updates administrative manuals to reflect current policies, regulations, and benefits information.
- Coordinates employee training by tracking required hours, maintaining records, and scheduling sessions as needed.
- Oversees records management, including file audits, document accuracy, and preparation and tracking of cases sent to and retrieved from State Archives.

Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
- The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted, or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Compensation:This position has a
Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $24.31 per hour.Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.Other Important Information:
