The Assistant Warden 4 will serve as Chief of Security and directly supervise (2) Assistant Warden 3’s. The incumbent will administer and coordinate all Security Wardens for RLCC, including areas on and off of the physical compound. Compound 1 and 2 areas of responsibility consist of Cajun 1, Cajun 2, Cajun 3, HOPE, RHA Unit, Culinary, Industrial Compound, Front Gate, Command Post, Roving Security, Disciplinary Boards, and Special Teams. Compound 3 and 4 areas of responsibility consist of Field operations, Outside work crews, Offender Trips, Disciplinary Boards, Mailroom, Communications, Fire and Safety, Property Control, Recreation, Armory, Investigations, Warehouse, Canteen, Kitchen, Control Center, Laundry, Front Gate, Recreation, Infirmary Building, Administrative Building, Visiting Shed, and the Education Building.
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above:Four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or2. A bachelor's degree.ORA master's degree plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; ORA doctorate plus two years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties:
- Serves as the Chief of Security for the Security Division.
- Responsible for the assignment and reassignment of all security staff.
- Assists in the budget preparation and justification of the proposed security budget each fiscal year.
- Oversees all expenditures for the Security Division, requests increase in budget as necessary.
