Raymond Laborde Correctional Center (RLCC) is a correctional facility that houses approximately 1,908 adult male offenders across minimum, medium, and maximum custody levels. The facility employs 355 staff members, in addition to personnel funded through other charges, professional services contracts, and security WAE positions. In the role of Assistant Warden, the incumbent is responsible for administering, managing, and coordinating a wide range of operational areas, including inmate housing units, vocational programs, inmate transportation, and recreational services.


Four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:

1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or
2. A bachelor's degree.

OR

A master's degree plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR

A doctorate plus two years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.

In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

Job Duties:

  • Provides strategic leadership as the Unit Manager, ensuring effective daily operations, alignment with organizational goals, and a high-performance team culture.
  • Directs the assignment, reassignment, and workload distribution of Unit staff, evaluating operational needs, balancing priorities, and ensuring optimal coverage and productivity across all functions.
  • Oversees Administrative Services and collaborates closely with administrative staff, offering guidance, resolving operational issues, streamlining processes, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Appointment Type:Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)


  • The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
