Wells Fargo’s growing Renewables and Asset Finance team is an integral part of the Power, Utilities & Renewables (PUR) group, providing financing, capital markets and advisory services to corporate clients. Our coverage universe includes renewable developers, independent power producers, infrastructure / private equity funds and utilities globally. Wells Fargo PUR is a market-leading franchise in the sector, including top ranked positions in the equity and debt capital markets league tables. 
 
As an Associate, you will support the Director or Managing Director in the structuring, execution, underwriting and monitoring of construction and project financings for renewables projects (wind, solar, battery storage) as well as acquisition financings. The position requires working closely with portfolio managers, clients, and Risk to underwrite and build a high-quality renewables portfolio. 
 
You will utilize all the Bank's resources to deliver the best solutions & financing structures meeting our clients' needs. You will support the origination team to deepen our client relationships and contribute to revenue generation and cross-selling efforts for products and services applicable to renewables. 
 
Your responsibilities will also include mentoring of junior credit analysts in partnership with Senior Portfolio Manager(s) and Relationship Manager(s).

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Support project finance and acquisition finance execution with a focus on:
  • Leading the financial modelling and transaction structuring 
  • Due diligence of projects, including interaction with technical, environmental, insurance, tax and market consultants
  • Supporting the writing of credit applications and requesting of credit approval (under the Senior Portfolio Manager leadership and interfacing with risk department) as well as internal project or sector overviews 
  • Support the transaction lead on project and financing documentation and closing process, including interfacing with counsels and other lenders
  • Support marketing efforts through work on pitches, proposals, presentations and other marketing materials to clients
  • Assist in portfolio monitoring as needed including draw requests, reporting and interfacing with internal stakeholders on portfolio or sector overviews
  • Oversight and training of analysts

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Salary range for the Charlotte and Denver area: $74,600 $105,000 $135,500



Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: underwriting, credit, relationship management, portfolio management, equity or venture capital investing experience; or successful completion of Wholesale Credit Management Training Program

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: new deal execution in power or renewables project finance, tax equity, infrastructure / private equity fund, or investment banking 
  • Experience in creating and modifying project finance models
  • Knowledge of project finance credit agreements and structures
  • Knowledge and understanding of corporate banking credits, cash flow analysis, and underwriting guidelines 
  • Ability to multitask and work on several assignments simultaneously; time management and prioritization skills




Salary Information

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.

NC-Charlotte: Min: $74,600 Mid: $105,000 Max: $135,500
CO-Denver: Min: $74,600 Mid: $105,000 Max: $135,500
