Summary: The Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult Ministry will work with the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry in the overall planning and implementation of Youth and Young Adult Ministry with direct coordination of Middle School Ministry & Young Adult Ministry. Assists in the Confirmation Preparations for high school teens and administrative duties of the YYA Department as assigned by the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. This position will perform basic administrative duties related to the Faith Formation Program and will maintain files and records of students. The Youth and Young Adult Religious Education Coordinator will also connect the parents and families in the program to the larger parish community. Other responsibilities may include: preparing and distributing weekly bulletin communication (both paper and electronic) to parents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with the Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry in providing a comprehensive program for the Youth and Young Adults of the community; to include both ministerial and administrative responsibilities.
- Maintains YYA Department communications to include parent communication, event promotion, bulletin updates, flyers, volunteer communication, youth and young adult communications and social media platforms.
- Provides direction, mentoring and fosters spiritual growth of the parish youth and young adults
- Refers youth, young adults and families to appropriate agencies and counselors.
- Assists the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry in other ministerial and administrative duties as assigned.
Middle School Ministry
- Envisions, plans and implements ministry programs for middle school gatherings, currently through use of the Edge Curriculum.
- Recruits, trains, encourages and provides spiritual formation for volunteers, both youth and adult, to minister to middle school youth.
- Stays in communication with youth and families about relevant information.
- Is available for potential guidance and/or referral for the needs of youth.
- Oversees and fosters interactions made between youth and volunteer ministers to encourage appropriate investment and support in the activities of youth and events in the ministry.
- Plans opportunities for service, prayer and fellowship outside of weekly gatherings.
Young Adult Ministry
- Develops and implements faith formation and spiritual growth opportunities for young adults between 18-35 years old. Develops specific processes, programs and activities based on their spiritual and developmental needs.
- Offers early college-age young adults (18-20 years old) the opportunity to initiate and/or deepen their spiritual life as they make the transition from high school, by encouraging, fostering and developing opportunities for support and formation.
- Actively reaches out and communicates with young adults within OLPH; develops and maintains a young adult database and communication process.
- Emphasizes community building and support among the young adults as they seek God's direction and will for their lives
- Develops a core team of leaders who are equipped to reach out, welcome and care for the diversity of young adults in our parish.
- Is mindful in program planning of diverse young adult needs; i.e. singles, married, college students, etc.
- Oversees the complete process of offering an annual Young Adult Retreat, as well as other prayer and outreach opportunities.
Confirmation Preparation
- Assists in Confirmation registration, program planning and implementation.
- Prepares needed materials for Confirmation Core Team volunteers.
- Sends and maintains weekly candidate assignments via Flocknote and Google Forms.
- Is present and supportive during all Confirmation sessions; to include room setup, cleanup and session debrief.
- Assists in locating 3-4 Saturday Service Projects for the candidates to participate with throughout the year.
- Collaborates with the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and the Life Teen Music Minister, plans 2 Lock-In Retreats for the candidates to participate with (one per semester).
- Assists in recruiting, training and supervising Confirmation Volunteers; including verification of Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements.
- Collects and sends necessary sacramental record information to churches of baptisms after confirmation ceremonies have all occurred for the year.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.
- Basic understanding of of scripture and Catholic Church teachings.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to compose correspondence, minutes and/or reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Make decisions under pressure.
- Good listener, facilitator and problem solver.
- Resourceful, flexible and available for whatever needs or challenges arise in the youth & young adult ministry.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat.
Recommended Qualifications
- Certification in Youth Ministry, Level 1 and Level 2 certification.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in religious studies / theology or other related field.
Required
- 3 years relevant work experience
- Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and management
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays due to work an unpredictable schedule when necessary

- Attendance at the Lifeteen Mass (Sundays at 5pm) is expected, except for Holidays
