The Campus Visit & Recruitment Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all campus visit events. In addition, this position, in conjunction with the Director of Admissions will coordinate large campus visits and recruitment of both campuses, Ottumwa and Centerville. Also responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of Indian Hills Student Ambassadors and providing full support to the Office of Admission & Orientation, as well as developing communications plans within the CRM (Recruiter) that drive enrollment.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in college admissions.
  • Experience in customer service or recruiting.
  • Knowledge of software utilized in recruiting students and moving them through all stages to become enrolled including Microsoft office suite, client relationship management (CRM), and familiarity with communication through various forms of social media.
  • Experience with a community college as staff or student preferred.
  • Experience supervising student staff preferred.
  • Coordinate and schedule all daily campus visits, tours, and meetings for prospective students as well as groups. This will include proper communication with guests, the office and campus, maintenance of the registration process, staffing, room reservations, the creation of special agendas and campus collaboration.
  • Coordinate Admissions & Orientation sponsored campus special events. This will include but is not limited to Warrior Visit Days, Program Majors Fair, and Counselor Day. The visit coordinator is responsible for the program creation & implementation, proper communication with guests, the office and campus, maintenance of the registration process, staffing, room reservations, and general event planning and coordination with other campus offices.
  • Works with other campus offices to ensure the visit calendar each year: is coordinated with the goal of creating events that engage our visitors and maximize our campus resources.
  • Act as key admissions advisor for on-campus appointments. Counsel prospective students, families and counselors about Indian Hills' admissions policies and procedures and provide information about educational opportunities. Provide general information regarding financial aid programs, process, timelines, and student eligibility; refer students to appropriate campus offices and services, as appropriate.
  • Give presentations about the college in individual and group settings.
  • Communicates effectively with students & parents, school counselors, and other groups about the campus visit opportunities that exist at Indian Hills.
  • Maintains statistics of daily visitors to Indian Hills Community College. Compiles information into monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Help Director of Admissions with assessment efforts and compiling data. Suggests and implements any changes necessary as a result of program assessments and evaluation information.
  • Maintain contact with prospective students through CRM including follow-up communication by phone calls, social media interaction, and text message to help answer their questions and move on to the next step in their life
  • Have the ability to work with prospective students in navigating all steps of the admissions process from inquiry, application, orientation and ultimately registration.
  • Manages webpages for Offices of Admissions.
  • Manages admission social media.
  • Assist students with information about the transition to college. Have the ability to give general advice on college life, academic programs, student activities and organizations, and student life. Assist new students with determining academic and career goals by advising them on academic programs available.
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues across campus. Work collaboratively with other units, as appropriate, to support student services, enrollment and retention at the College. Participate in frainings, meetings, committees and other duties as assigned to support the Office of Admissions & Orientation and Student Services.
  • Develop and implement an intensive Student Ambassador Training Program.
  • Student Ambassadors will play a crucial role in the recruitment efforts of Indian Hills Community College. The program will train students to deliver campus tours, special events, student panels, conversations in person, over the phone, through text, and social media critical to recruitment.
  • Directly supervises Indian Hills Student Ambassadors, student tour guides. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the College policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training student employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining student employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Develop presentations and student panels for all visit days and orientation events.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory of admissions materials and office supplies.
  • Connect students with useful college resources or outside support services.
  • Represent the college in a positive manner.
  • Accept and perform responsibilities that may require work to be performed other than normal assigned hours (night and weekend). Ability to travel overnight.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision. Willing to be student-focused while following college regulations. Ability to focus on completing tasks for goal attainment. Ability to be innovative and make sound decisions.
