Job Description

The Cooling Tower Technician plays a crucial role in assisting with the construction, erection, installation, fabrication, and repairs of cooling towers. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and efficiently, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to high-quality standards. Extensive travel may be required depending on project location and duration.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of mechanical equipment including motors, fans, gearboxes, drive shafts, mechanical supports, and fan stacks.
• Select lumber and other materials for assigned jobs.
• Prepare layouts using rulers, tape measures, framing squares, and calipers.
• Shape materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and grinders.
• Assemble cut and shaped materials.
• Assist with piping and nozzle installation.
• Erect framework as required.
• Work at heights while observing 100% tie-off safety protocol.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and perform bending and climbing tasks.
• Work in outdoor or plant environments, potentially exposed to bad weather, excessive heat, and noise.

Essential Skills

• Experience with general labor and construction.
• Proficiency in using hand tools such as saws, drills, and wrenches.
• Ability to work at heights and outdoors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Interest in a construction career.
• Experience with cooling towers is a plus.
• HVAC experience is a plus.
• Utilizing power washers effectively.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
