Hi-Tek Manufacturing (Mason, OH) is searching for experienced Controls & Integration Engineer who wishes to develop his or her career in advanced manufacturing technology by executing a higher level of workmanship. Reporting to the Manufacturing Technology Manager, the Controls & Integration Engineer’s primary focus of this position to the Engineering Department is to analyze, control, modify, and execute programs in CNC Machine Controllers. This role will also assist and/or define electronic control requirements of CNC equipment as well as plan and provide for control of programming to prevent accidental loss (i.e., power outage) and provide protection of data. Additionally, the person in this role will perform and assist in interfacing all machine/equipment upgrades or additions.


Essential Tasks

  • Analyze, control, modify and execute programs in CNC Machine Controllers.
  • Fanuc CNC integration, repair and maintenance.
  • PLC, ladder logic, servo systems, variable frequency drive, digital and analog systems.
  • Utilize 2D and 3D computer graphics with some proficiency.
  • Perform diagnostic and follow-up maintenance on electronic equipment including, but not limited to PLC, robotic, and CNC controllers.
  • Define electronic control requirements of CNC equipment.
  • Provide advice to internal personnel on any equipment and tooling designs requiring electrical/electronic interface.
  • Coordinate electronic CNC controller programming with information systems.
  • Assist and support install of all new equipment.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA Degree in Electrical Engineering or 3+ years of experience designing and building electrical devices and controls for machines used in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read machine electrical schematics of machines and electronics.
  • 2D CAD experience for electrical schematics; AutoCAD and 3D CAD experience desired.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet wiring, basic network configuration and networking concepts.
  • Experience programming manufacturing machines (CNC, ladder, object-oriented programming).
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and/or computers.
  • Experience working with hands/hand tools to build and repair mechanical and electrical devices for machine troubleshooting and repair.
  • Fanuc CNC experience a plus.
  • CNC Machining +1 year preferred.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong electronic and machine language programming skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others positively in order to achieve positive work results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with external and internal customers.
  • Ability to effectively work with skilled trades on various aspects of building CNC machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with creativity and tenacity.
  • Occasional travel.
  • Must be an United States Citizen, or an US Permanent Resident

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.


Physical Demand Levels

  • Will climb stairs multiple times per day
  • Will sit, stand, or walk distances for up to the entire duration of shift
  • Will lift, push, or pull 25 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Routinely perform reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping to move and set tools, equipment, and material.
  • Perform under AS9100 standards


Shift: 1st shift, Mon-Fri 7:00am-3:30pm *OT may be required as needed
