Controls Engineer - Renewables

If you are a Controls Engineering professional with hands-on experience in renewable energy or a related power or industrial automation field, Emerson has an opportunity for you based in our Cranberry Township, PA location.

You will join a renewables-focused engineering team responsible for project execution primarily within the North American power industry. In this role, you will lead the application design and technical execution of renewable energy projects, including solar, battery storage, and wind assets. You will apply your controls expertise to deliver high-quality solutions while supporting the development of less experienced engineers through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.

 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of engineering plans, schedules, and technical documentation for renewable energy projects
  • Design, simulate, test, and implement renewable power control applications for solar, battery energy storage, and wind generation assets
  • Configure and troubleshoot electronic databases using industry-standard communication protocols and datalinks
  • Serve as a primary technical contributor during customer Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests
  • Support site commissioning activities and provide remote technical support as needed
  • Initiate requisitions for project purchases and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors
  • Manage the design, testing, integration, and shipment of project hardware
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, or standard solutions
  •  Manage time and priorities effectively to meet project schedules and commitments
  •  Build and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent communication and technical expertise
  • Monitor project financial performance and support cost and schedule control efforts
  • Share technical knowledge and provide mentoring support to early career engineers on the team

 For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in Controls engineering within renewable energy, power generation, or a closely related industrial or automation environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% domestically
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. This is not a position for which sponsorship will be provided.  Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Experience working directly with customers in a technical or project execution capacity
  • Familiarity with Emerson Ovation software and hardware products
  • Knowledge of control system applications, distributed control systems, or SCADA platforms
  • Interest in mentoring or supporting the development of less experienced engineers
