Position Overview

The Controls Engineer serves as a technical resource for both skilled trades and production teams, supporting new and existing manufacturing equipment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting controls-related issues, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining production throughput, and providing advanced technical support for automated systems. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve complex equipment failures and optimize manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide production line support for controls logic, PLC programming, and NC programming using Siemens-based hardware platforms.
  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for industrial equipment and automated manufacturing processes.
  • Develop, modify, and support PLC, CNC, and HMI hardware and software systems.
  • Configure and integrate sensors, actuators, and other automation components.
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and validation to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineering teams to implement control solutions.
  • Maintain and update control system documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and program logic.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Support emergency maintenance teams in resolving unplanned equipment downtime and process issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on achieving operational KPIs.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain automated manufacturing systems, robotics, and production equipment.
  • Modify and support KUKA robot positions and logic as required.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, preferably Siemens platforms.
  • Experience with HMI systems and industrial communication protocols such as:
  • Ethernet/IP
  • Modbus
  • Profibus
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control systems theory.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation standards and safety regulations.
  • Willingness and ability to modify KUKA robot positions and programs when required.
  • Proficiency with PC hardware and standard commercial software applications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior experience in automotive manufacturing or industrial automation environments.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–7 years of experience in Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
